Awaken Your Inner Strength: A Deep Mindfulness Meditation to Reconnect With Your Inner Authority
You've always known the truth. Deep down, you know there is a deeper yearning inside you that's aching to get out and be seen and heard. But life often gets in the way and you are inner voice can get buried beneath all the noise and busyness of our every day. This mindfulness meditation is your invitation to return to slow down. Tune in and remember who you are. In this meditation, we are looking inward, aligning ourselves to our center, to the strength that's already in you. And gently remind you how to trust it again. So find a comfortable space where you feel safe and won't be distracted and either on a chair. So making sure that you are safe, not driving or operating heavy machinery and won't be putting yourself or others in danger. Finding a space, either on a chair or something that will support you comfortably. Placing your feet flat on the ground and feeling the weight of your body on the support your spine is dignified and respectful for the practice. lengthening the neck slightly, as if an invisible thread is pulling it gently in line with the spine. Gently tilting your chin down and closing the eyes if comfortable while lowering them. Looking forward with a soft gaze. Relaxing the body. Just that little bit more into the support and begin to become aware of your breathing. Feel the breath coming in and outta the body softly, quietly in a soothing, rhythmic way, rocking your body. And I want you to gently lengthen the breath to the count of three or four on the in breath and three or four on the out breath. So as you breathe in, you can count to three or four, and as you breathe out, you can count to three or four. Or if you find that counting restricts the mind, you can use phrases such as when you're breathing in, you can say, I know I'm breathing in. And as you breathe out, you can say, I know I'm breathing out. So we're doing two things. We're counting or using phrases and we're breathing, and you may find that in no time that thoughts arise in your mind, and that's fine. That's normal. Just be aware of them and bring yourself back to your breathing and your counting. And if thoughts pop up again, don't get attached to them. Just let them pass by, as if your mind is the sky and the thoughts are the clouds floating past. And then gently and kindly bring yourself back. To your breathing and your counting and feeling the weight of your body on the support and your feet flat on the ground, and when thoughts arise again, don't judge them and don't judge yourself for allowing them to be there. Just bring yourself back to your breathing and counting, not getting attached to any thoughts and becoming aware of the out breath, I am focusing your attention on your breath as it's released by the body, And you may notice that the body relaxes as you breathe out. So as the body releases the breath and relaxes, maybe the mind can learn from this and release all involvement with thinking and begin to settle. And allow your breathing to come back to its natural rhythm. Now, letting go of the counting and feel the weight of your body on the chair or the support and your feet on the floor, and noticing the pressure of your hands where they lay. Can you feel any temperature around them? Is it warm or cool? Can you notice any air moving around the hands and the skin? Are your fingers in contact with each other? Can you feel the temperature of the skin connecting and becoming aware of how the body is being supported unconditionally by the ground, and how the mind is being unconditionally supported by the body. Mind resting in the body and the body resting on the ground, and noticing the space all around you, allowing your body to relax. You have nothing to do. Nowhere to go and nothing to achieve right now. Just sitting here simply being in the present moment. And I want you to bring your awareness to a part of your body that you feel is your center. This is where you will find your inner glow, your inner strength. That part of your body that knows it doesn't need to prove itself to anyone, but is accepted by you, and notice where this is in your body and feel into that area. Does it have a color or a shape or a texture? There is no right or wrong way to see or feel anything. This is your feeling. This is your center. This is your inner glow, and if possible, try and imagine a light glowing gently in your center. It's steady and know this is your inner authority. It is wise. It's loving and clear, and I want you to breathe into the color and the area. And as you feel your body move, as you breathe in and as you breathe out, you can feel the colors strengthening and brightening and glowing. And reminding yourself, this is your inner strength, your inner glow, your inner authority. Notice how this makes you feel. And notice the feelings around this color as it supports you and guides you to stand tall in who you are, allowing your body to feel grounded and aligned. And feeling your feet on the ground and the weight of your body on support, noticing the contact and pressure of your body against your support. And taking a deep breath in and releasing it slowly, appreciating the time you've given yourself to feel into your aligned center, to become aware of your inner authority and to take this feeling with you for the rest of the day. Knowing that it's benefiting you, but it's also benefiting those who come into contact with you. And when you're ready, slowly bring your awareness back to where you are, and you can start to move your toes and your fingers and gently in your own time, open your eyes.
